Material Girl

This is a totally materialistic and shallow post, but I am tired and don't have energy to think. I subbed for an 8th grade class today that thought it was funny to pass a roll of toilet paper around the room (behind their backs) and laugh hysterically about it for 30 minutes??? And when I asked a girl to bring me the toilet paper, a different girl yelled at me telling me it was her lunch.

Anyways..... I am so glad everyone likes our names! Not that it matters, it's just nice. My sister texted me the other night and said, 'I just realized both of your names are names of people on Grey's Anatomy.' Oops.. not at all our intentions, I assure you! I literally stopped watching that show when Izzy gave CPR to a deer. And then Jer's brother (and Lauren) both realized that Sloane is from 'Ferris Bueller'. I have also heard Sloane is from the show 'Entourage'. Again, I assure you we didn't go to IMDB to find our future children's names, but it's neat either way.

Here are some things I want. I don't really need any of them... I just want them.

Pretty Dress (non-maternity from F21)

Cute Maternity Top from Gap

Cute Maternity Maxi Dress from Old Navy ( I LIVE in maxi dresses in the summer)

To add this movie to my Disney collection

To dig in to a big fat Greek salad with TONS of Feta cheese

And to go on a date night with my husband to see this movie

Name Game

Jeremy and I have decided (finally) what we are going to name our child! I am 12 weeks today and literally since the day we found out I was pregnant (I was about 3.5 weeks along) we have been talking about baby names. For the past 8.5 weeks, we have been throwing names around, making fun of each other for some of the names we have come up with and have made an infinite amount of lists of names we like. So the names we have come up with are...

Owen Ross Sturgeon

or

Sloane Elaine Sturgeon

We decided on Sloane a few weeks ago, but we could not agree on a boy's name! I am in love with both names and I know they are the 'right' names, because I get butterflies when we talk about our baby and say 'Sloane or Owen'. We decided to pass down our middle names as well.

Other than that, we have both been working and enjoying the gorgeous Spring weather in our backyard. Our sunflowers have started to sprout and we got a patio set to enjoy dinners outside once in a while.

This past Friday, we went out to lunch with Taylor, Grayson and Gracie! Then they came over after and played outside. It was such a fun day, I am so glad Taylor and I have stayed close. It's so fun being pregnant at the same time.

In other preggers news, I have had a weird aversion to meat. Every type of meat; chicken, beef, you name it. I was not a big meat-eater before I got pregnant, but now the sight or smell of it makes me gag. Seafood is a different story. I could eat seafood every day. Particularly shrimp, crab or lobster. But I keep that to a minimum (once a week) to keep it on the safe side.

I am also craving fruit and anything fruit-flavored. I have almost completely cut caffeine out, I am down to one cup of half-caffeinated coffee in the mornings. It really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Hopefully in the second trimester, I can get more energy.

Hope everyone's weekend was fun! Easter is next weekend and I get to snuggle my chubby bunny!!! (my nephew Brock) I will leave you with a picture of my goober.

XOXO Haley

P.S.- I just noticed in the picture of Brock that it looks like he only has one nostril. This picture is my screensaver, and in it and in real life he has two nostrils, I assure you.

Our Garden

A few weekends ago, Jeremy and I decided to plant a garden in our backyard. The people that used to live in our house had a small place in the backyard that they had taken the grass out and planted a rose garden. It obviously wasn't tended to the months before we moved in, so we ripped it out and tilled up the soil to make sure it was good for growing. I recently learned that as long as worms are living in soil, the soil is good enough to plant flowers/vegetables/fruits or whatever you want to grow.

So, we went to Home Depot and picked out 4 vegetables/fruits to plant. Jeremy is not a huge fan of vegetables, so we picked out things to plant that we know would be eaten. We decided on watermelon, carrots, cantaloupe and sunflowers. (You can get sunflower seeds from the sunflowers)

We also picked up something to go around the garden to (try and) keep our bloodhound out!

The stars next to the name means it's organic. I'm reading a baby book by Dr. Oz called 'You Having a Baby' and in it, it says if there is ever a time in your life to eat organically, it is while you are pregnant.

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

P.S.- I added a little poll to the right- just for fun! We won't find out what sex our baby is until the beginning of May!

Spring Breakin It Down

This past weekend was jam-packed to say the least! Thursday evening my brother (Blake), his girlfriend (Taylor) and Blake's yellow lab (Hutch) all rolled in to town. We kicked the weekend off with a good ole bbq with my parents at my house.

Friday morning, the boys golfed while Taylor and I did a little shopping. Later that afternoon, we joined the parents and introduced Taylor to Lopez!!

After our lunch, we headed off to the rodeo! Toby Keith was playing that night, but we didn't really go for him. We went more for the whole rodeo experience; fried food, the smell of poop and cute farm animals. Speaking of farm animals, one of my favorite animal's is a pig. So, we asked where the baby pigs were and headed that way. Little did I know, the baby pigs were in the 'birthing center'. Which is exactly what it sounds like. It's a place where animals have either just given or are waiting to give birth. Why would people want to watch this? I have no earthly idea. I was strolling along looking at all of the cute little pigs and suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I see two people with their hands in the 'catcher' position who were both a little to close for comfort to this sheep... or goat, whatever it was, not sure, I didn't get a good look. I ran over to Jer in horror and said, 'Ohmigod, I think that thing is giving birth.' This girl that was in front of us turns around and says 'where'. I looked at her like, 'What the??' and pointed to my left. Who the eff wants to watch a farm animal (let alone any living being) give birth???? NOT ME!!!! Especially knowing that I am going to go through that in about 7 months, I had no interest. I quickly hustled my way out of there and patiently waited for the rest of my family to stop their gawking so I could get a coke.

Moving on.... Saturday we went and hung out at my parent's house for lunch and sun tanning. Later that evening, we got all fancied up and headed to Rachael and Kevin's wedding. It was really pretty and fun! They had an open bar and I had my first virgin bloody mary! I must say, it was pretty yummy. Here Taylor and I are at the wedding...

Sunday we got up and made breakfast burritos and watched 'Up In The Air'.... it was OK. Not sure what all the hype was about.

This week is my Spring Break. I have mostly been tanning outside while reading this.......

Sooo relaxing! We heard baby's heartbeat for the first time today!! It was amazing and I can't wait to hear it again and again.

Speaking of baby.... I was doing my usual weekly Target run and instantly fell in love with this book...

I picked it up and started reading it and started crying in the middle of target... I knew I had to get it! The first couple of lines read...
'On the night you were born,
the moon smiled with such wonder
that the stars peeked in to see you
and the night wind whispered,
"Life will never be the same."
Because there had never been anyone like you...
ever in the world.'

I also picked up this cute top from the new 'Liberty of London' collection:

It's a little loose- so I know my belly will have room to grow in it.

Hope everyone is having a great week!!
P.S.- I sort of totally changed what I want for the nursery- so I will post another 'nursery inspiration' post soon!

John Mayer and Cravings....

One in the same, no?? This past Saturday evening was the John Mayer concert! That boy puts on a good show. What was even better was an amazing surprise that awaited us. We got to our seats and they were pretty much the highest seats in the house (not kidding) in section 415. While we were looking around, we noticed a man who worked at the Toyota Center was checking people's tickets. I made the smart ass remark to Jer- 'Wow, he's really checking people's tickets, like we're gonna 'steal' these *awesome* seats. Well, after he checked people's tickets, we noticed they were getting up to leave. What the h?? So Jer basically shoved our tickets in his hands and the guy told us that 'Mr. John Meyer (the way he pronounced it) picked one section to relocate to seats next to the stage' and we happened to be sitting in that section!! We were PUMPED!!! Stuff like this never happens to us. We happily moved our hineys all the way down to section 103 which was literally next to the stage.

These were taken with Jer's Iphone- so they're not the greatest quality. Again, I didn't think we had great seats, so I didn't even bother bringing a camera. Baby Sturgeon enjoyed his/her first concert!!

Sunday morning we woke up and had donuts (baby's craving, not mine). My parents came over to help us with our landscaping. I didn't take any pictures cause we aren't quite done, but I will once we finish! My parents are so amazing, they help us with anything/everything we need....

Speaking of cravings, Jer had a flag football game for work Thursday night, so I was home watching Real Housewives with Lola. Those 'classy' ladies were drinking martini after mouth-watering martini. I had to have one, or at least something resembling one. I called my sister, cause when she was pregnant I got her a book on how to make 'mocktails'. Nothing was in the book about dirty martinis. The way I drink my martinis is pretty much olive juice with a splash of vodka. So, I drove myself (with Lola in the car) to Kroger and perused the aisles for the perfect Spanish olive. Well, they had an olive that said 'martini olive'. I thought 'perfect!!'... not so much. When I got home, I tried one and noticed it tasted funny. I looked on the front and noticed it said 'marinated in Vermouth'.... oopsy. I called my mom asking if I had hurt the baby by eating one lousy olive soaked in alcohol. She informed me that of course I didn't. If you know me, I barely take tylenol when I have a headache. I know i'm being naive, but I know that if I ever did anything that affected our growing baby in a negative way, I could never forgive myself.

Anyways, other than spanish olives, I am currently craving ice cream. Specifically ice cream that you can only find from an ice cream truck. I have no idea why. Does anyone remember these popsicles??

I looked online to see if they still produced them, no luck!! I'm pretty sure I would do just about anything to get my hands on Donald right now. (Duck that is)

It's weird, but I have been craving things that I ate growing up.... peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, popsicles and puffy cheetos. 'Kid Stuff' I guess. I promise, I am throwing an apple in the middle of that..

Here is a picture of me and my favorite little nephew from Valentine's Day....

Next week is Spring Break! Wahooo.. after Spring Break 2008 in Vegas, I honestly never thought I would have a Spring Break again.. I am so excited for a week off. I have been searching high and low for a cheap lay out chair so I can get my tan on.

My brother, Blake and his GF Taylor are coming in this weekend for a wedding. They are bringing Hutch, Blake's yellow lab and Lola's favorite cousin. Taylor has never been to Houston, so my family is de-virginizing her by taking her to the rodeo and Lopez! Should be a fun weekend.

Hope everyone has an awesome week!

Nursery Inspiration

When Jer and I talk about what we want for a nursery, whether it be a boy or a girl, we don't talk specific themes, we always talk in colors for some reason. I was the same way with our wedding. When people would ask, 'what's the theme for your wedding?' I would ALWAYS say, 'we don't really have a theme, just colors.' Sooo...

For a boy, we like the idea of dark brown or black furniture (crib, dresser/changing table and rocking chair) with navy blue, white and green. Here are some inspiration pictures that I love! I love the idea of thick horizontal stripes in navy and white.

Everything seems so much easier to come up with when it comes to a girl. Names, nursery decor and cute outfits!! I originally liked the idea of turquoise, coral, and brown. But Jer wants to make either nursery look 'classy' so he likes the idea of turquoise, black and white. Not sure if one is 'classier' than the other. Either way, we would do white furniture for a girl. I like both color combos, so we will see what sex Baby Sturgeon is before we make any concrete plans! Here are the pictures:

We have names picked out, but I will share those another day! I got all of these pictures from google image!

If I hear one more thing about Jake and Vienna......

I'm going to kick Lola. Just kidding, I would never hurt my beloved bloodhound. But seriously people, do we have nothing better to talk about? And now, I hear on Good Morning America that I have to watch the bachelor douche on Dancing With The Stars?? I don't understand why so many people watch this show and then complain about it.... here's a news flash... don't watch it!

Now that that is off my chest, let me tell you about my fun weekend! I am finally starting to feel better and not as nauseous. I still feel sick here and there, but it isn't constant like it was for a while. Thank God. I can get back to subbing and feeling like myself! This past Saturday, my mom and I shopped the whole day... one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday. My mom took me shopping for non-maternity 'maternity' clothes. Basically cute tops and dresses that my belly can grow in to.

I always thought when I got pregnant that I would love to shop for maternity clothes, but they're just not that cute! And I hate to limit myself to a certain type of clothing. Plus, I doubt I will actually have to wear real maternity clothes until I get into my 6th month or so. (here's hoping!) One of the perks of being preggers right now is that most of the regular (non-maternity) clothes out right now will fit an expanding belly. SCORE! I am in love with this tunic and have already worn it twice! It's by INC...

I am DYING to get this Jessica Simpson dress for summer, but they didn't have it in the Macy's we went to.....

So, Saturday was spent shopping while Sunday was spent cleaning and laying outside with Jer and enjoying the amazing weather! Jer went out Saturday night with some of his work buddies and Lola and I stayed home and watched 'The September Issue'. Which was basically a 'Devil Wears Prada' documentary. It was good, but we all know the editor of Vogue (Anna Wintour) isn't a nice lady and this movie confirmed that.
Work is going well, I am actually loving substitute teaching. I love that I can make my own schedule and be in 5 different schools in one week! I would highly recommend subbing to anyone out there looking for a job.

This weekend is John Mayer!! I am soooo excited and ready for a good date night with Jer. I wonder if our child will come out singing, 'your body is a wonderland'... i'll let y'all know.

Jer and I have a few baby names picked out, but they change every week! We are pretty set on nursery decor for either sex, but I don't have any pictures of what I want, it's pretty much all in my head.

Is anyone else excited about Real Housewives of New York City coming back??? I love Bethenny and her 'frankness' and can't wait to see how the ladies spent their summer. RHONYC is def my favorite Real Housewives because if Jer ever made a bajillion dollars and we could live the lifestyle of numerous houses and endless charity events, I would want to live in New York and travel back and forth between the city and The Hamptons.

This post is so random, my bad!

Ohh yeah, almost forgot. I was doing my usual weekly trip to Ross (they have GREAT summer dresses) and scored this cute navy (the dress is in black in the pic) sundress. While I was on macys.com looking at dresses for an upcoming wedding, I noticed they had the same exact dress on their web site that I got at Ross for half the price (same brand)!! So, don't knock Ross until you've tried it!

I will look for some nursery pics tonight and post nursery inspiration pictures tomorrow!

Hope everyone is having a great week... sorry if The Bachelor thing came off a tad bitchy... I have been craving a Subway sandwich since a month ago and am scared to eat deli meat b/c of the bacteria it can carry...
