Thursday Things

Hello all. I was planning on running errands before we leave tomorrow for Horseshoe Bay, but it just started raining... AGAIN. I made the mistake a couple days ago of going to Target while it was raining thinking it would die down by the time I got there. No such luck. So, I will continue snuggling Lola, watching The Jersey Shore marathon and blogging!

Is anyone else super excited about the second season of Jersey Shore premiering tonight?? Jer and I are. I know it's a completely ridiculous show, but The Situation's one-liners are hilarious and keep us coming back.

Jer and I went to dinner last night over at my parent's for sloppy joes.... YUM. I like em extra schloppy... Billy Madison anyone? After dinner, Jer and my dad loaded up or new-ish washer and dryer and toted them back to our house. I have already done 3 loads of laundry in them and i'm in LOVE! Now, we just have to hang a few more things before it's done.

My Granny gave us the Boppy cover she made for us last night and it turned out perfect. Here's Jer modeling it (it doesn't quite fit comfortably around my 7th month belly ;)) when he was home for lunch this afternoon.

While perusing through the baby section of Target, I noticed Dwell Studio (my fave baby brand) got a new line of clothes in! It is car themed and I was kind of disappointed because their last collection (airplanes) was adorable and I have almost everything little boy from it. I only got one thing from this one.

Well it looks like the rain has stopped for now... have to get ready for our baby moon this weekend! So excited to be lounging here..

And enjoy one last vacation before Baby Owen arrives! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

P.S.- Meet my new BFF

Hello, hello baby...

What an amazing weekend! We had our 3D/4D ultrasound on Saturday morning and got to see our little guy! He wasn't very cooperative at first; he kept his face hidden in my belly and didn't want to turn. About halfway through the ultrasound, he finally turned so we could catch a glimpse of his face. As soon as I saw it, I could tell he has Jer's nose. Jer and his mom have a very distinct nose and I could tell our little Owen has the same one. Other than that, I really can't tell who he looks like. Seeing him in 3D made me 100 times more anxious to meet him and hold him.
Luckily, the ultrasound said from the measurements of his head, his due date would be September 23. Not sure how I feel about that and I'm not sure how accurate it is, so I'm going to wait until my next doctor's appointment until we make any concrete due date changes. We also found out that he has hair and is chubby! He has fat little hands and we saw fat rolls on his back. Oh, how I LOVE chubby babies!

On top of the 50 images we got of the ultrasound, we got a 30 minute video of his entire ultrasound. Oh yeah and Owen is definitely a boy!!

After the ultrasound, my mom, dad, Jer and my Granny and I all headed to Sugar Land Town Square for a yummy lunch. We ate at a new Japanese restaurant called Taisho. It was delicious!

After lunch we came home and took a nap and vegged for the rest of the night. Sunday, we painted our laundry room to get ready for our new-ish washer and dryer. My parents got new ones, so they are giving us their high efficiency ones! Before and after pics to come.

Sunday evening, we ventured out for a night on the town. We met some of Jer's coworkers at The Grove for a fantastic dinner, then walked over to the Toyota Center for LADY GAGA! Best concert i've ever been to. Jer and I both agreed it was definitely more of a show than a concert. Part of the show was the people watching. We had to stand in line outside of the Toyota Center before we walked in to the concert and I kid you not, a guy (dressed as a dominatrix) had to throw his metal chain that was wrapped around his neck away because it wouldn't go through the metal detector. And that was just the beginning... he was with a girl who was wearing nothing but a bikini and caution tape.

It said on the ticket 'no cameras' so I didn't bring one, but man I wish I had! Some of the outfits we saw are unexplainable and just have to be seen. We saw a 6 foot cross dresser dressed in a black latex body suit.
Jer-'Is that a guy or a girl?'
Me- 'Not sure, i'll wait until they turn around'
Me- 'Oh, it's a guy, I can see his dick bulge'.
Jer- 'Shut up, you can see his dick bulge?'
Me- 'Yes, look at him.'
Jer- 'Oh.'

The guy also had some lumps where boobs would be on a girl, so Jer and I then had a 10-minute discussion on the ins and outs of cross dressing. To say the least, it was an experience we will never forget and will probably never have again. I love that Jer is not one of those judgmental guys who is homophobic or not secure with himself. He danced and enjoyed himself just as much (if not more) than I did.

Here is a 29 week picture of Owen and I before the concert.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and a great start to your week! We'll be getting the laundry room done this week and everything ready for Horseshoe Bay this weekend. Oh yeah and baby shower invitations should be going out for both baby showers this week! I have already seen one of the invites and they are adorable- I am so excited to celebrate this little boy.

Weekend Plans

First, I want to thank everyone for such sweet comments on my last post. Guess I will just keep on keeping on with my baby posts. I am so excited that this weekend is finally here....

Tonight, Jer and I are taking advantage of still being carefree, young and married and are going on a date night to Studio Movie Grill. We are seeing 'Salt'. Not too excited about it, but Jer is a big Angelina Jolie fan, so I gave in. He has been so amazing during this pregnancy; rubbing my feet almost every night, getting me WHATEVER crazy craving I want (not very crazy lately) and just being a great partner overall.

Saturday, we are going for our 3D ultrasound to see Owen!! I am beyond anxious to see who the little guy looks like.

Then Sunday is the LADY GAGA concert! We are going to eat at 'The Grove' before... so excited.

Last night, Taylor, Gracie and Grayson came over for spaghetti! I love seeing and playing with those little munchkins.

Did anyone watch 'Bethenny Getting Married?' last night? They made me so anxious when they were trying to get ready to go to the hospital after her water broke 5 weeks early... it made me kick into nesting mode x a million! So glad his nursery is completely done.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Projects and Things

I love blogging... mostly to put my all of the ideas I have floating around in one place. But lately i've felt like all I blog about are 'things'. I will admit, I am a bit materialistic; I love shopping, decorating, and all that fun stuff. But I would certainly hate for it to come off (via my blog) that that is all I do. I am a 'normal' human-being. I have fears, dreams, goals just like everyone else. Right now I'm going through one of the most amazing and scariest things all at once... pregnancy.
I have a million things going on in my mind about childbirth, things that could go wrong, how to take care of Owen once he's born... all that good stuff. But, it is easier for me to push all of those worries to the back of my head and just show the 'fun' stuff. I am also a little afraid that if I do tell you about my irrational fears and what not, y'all would be bored to tears.

I really did try not to make this blog about all things baby, but let's face it, it is! I'm not ashamed. What I talk about here is everything I talk to my husband, parents, sister and friends about. There's not a day that goes by that Jer and I don't sit and watch Owen move in my belly, talk about or plan something for Owen. So, I guess i'm sort of apologizing to all of my non-expectant or without child friends. Because I know if I weren't expecting and I read my blog, I would probably be a little tired of all things baby.

Soooo.... after all of that, wanna see some projects i've been working on for Owen?

First, while my whole family and I were in Colorado, my sister kept picking things up for Brock's scrapbook. Not sure why, but it had never occurred to me to start a scrapbook for Owen. I have only made one scrapbook in my life and it was in high school for a grade. Once I got into it, I actually really enjoyed it (that's what she said). But like i've said before, I am an 'all-or-nothing' kind of person and that doesn't really work for scrap booking. Anywho, while I was in Hobby Lobby the other day, I came across the most adorable scrapbook that set my booty in motion to want to make one for Owen.

Plus, all of their scrapbook stuff was 50% off, so I got it for $15.00. Wahoo. I realized I can't really plan ahead for the pages I want to do, so I'm just gonna buy the stuff as things happen. But I did pick up a few sheets to get me started...

The reason I was at Hobby Lobby was to find materials for a little project in Owen's closet. My mom sent me this link from another blog and I fell in love. A project for Owen's clothes?? Count me in!

Seeing his clothes organized definitely made me realize I have ENOUGH and to stop buying the little guy clothes (unless I see something he HAS to have of course)

The other project I've been working on is a cross for his room. I couldn't really find a 'modern' looking cross to go with his room (let me know if you've seen one) so I decided to make one myself. I found the wooden cross (50% off!) at Hobby Lobby and picked out spray paint at Wal-Mart to match his gray curtains. It has been rainy for the past couple of days and I've learned the hard way NOT to spray paint something when there is a lot of moisture in the air, so this project isn't quite finished yet.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday... did anyone watch the premiere of 'Teen Mom' last night?? I love those effed up girls and their adorable babies.

BFF and Buble

This weekend, my best friend Christy came to town! Jer and I stayed at my parent's house all weekend to dog/house sit while they were out of town. Friday night, Christy and I went to the Michael Buble concert! It was awesome. Sad to say, not as good as his first, which was way more intimate and in a theater instead of an arena, but it was still great. Before the concert, Christy and I ate at yummy Japaneiro's!

Saturday we shopped, lunched, and laid out by the pool for the day. It started storming on us while we were in the pool, so we decided to have a pizza and movie night. Nothing better! Sunday, Christy had to leave, so Jer and I laid in the pool again and then made a trip to Target. I wanted to add 'The Little Seed' items on my registry, but a couple things have been selling out. I decided it was best to go ahead and get what I wanted before it was too late! We got him an orange onesie and a green and a blue swaddling blanket... can't resist these colors.

Such a nice, relaxing weekend! Oh yeah, almost forgot... look at this cute sign Auntie Christy brought for Owen!! I know the perfect place in his bathroom for it.

I think Owen's 'thing' is dinosaurs. Not sure why, but I love everything dinosaurs for our little boy. Hope everyone had a great weekend and a great start to your week! I am counting down until Saturday... we get to see Owen in 3D/4D!

Maternity Style and Iron-ing Things Out

*The color of Owen's nursery is Martha Stewart's Bay Leaf*

Hola Chicas! Got some not very good news yesterday... nothing horrible, but it still scared me. I had my glucose tolerance test last Friday, which I passed. But my DR called and said I had low anemia levels. 80% of pregnant women have this problem, it just means I am not producing enough iron. (I had to look this info up) Iron is what's in our blood and is necessary to carry blood to our organs. The good news is is that this doesn't effect Owen at all. (Please let me know if this info isn't correct, I did get it on the internet! :))
Overall, I basically have to take an extra iron supplement, on top of my prenatal vitamin, and I need to eat more foods rich in iron. Red meat, green leafy vegetables and wheat are all high in iron, so I am going to the grocery store today and stocking up!
I know this is very minor and I see that today. But I have never received a call from my doctor, so that in itself was scary. (Knock on wood) This whole pregnancy has been virtually 'problem free' and I guess I expected it to keep going like that.. i'm just glad it's something as minor as eating more beef and taking an extra pill a day. Anyways, on to something more fun....
I follow Timi and Leslie on Facebook, the brand that makes my diaper bag. The other day, a picture of their new colors popped up for The Charlie Tote. My parents are gifting me the black one for one of my showers, and it has already been ordered. I wanted to go with a 'classic' color rather than a trendy one, so I wouldn't get sick of it. Also, Jer said in an 'emergency' the only color he would carry would be black. He tries to come off as such a manly man, but I know he would carry a turquoise diaper bag for his little boy if he had to.
That aside, I am DYING over their new colors.....

Does anyone else watch QVC or The Home Shopping Network when absolutely nothing else is on? I surely do! My favorite is Rachel Zoe for QVC... she could sell me anything, I love her. Well, I was flipping through the channels the other day and a brand called 'Curations by Stefani Greenfield' was on. SO cute, but overpriced in my opinion. Either way, here are a few of my faves from that line.

via

I'm not sure about anyone else, but right around the time school starts, I get an itch to start buying for my fall wardrobe. I know that's ridiculous, as it doesn't get cold until November, but I guess I get a little tired of summer clothes and want something new. Does anyone else do this??

Hope everyone's having a great week!

27 Weeks!

I can't believe there's only 3 more months left until Owen's arrival!! Amazing how fast time flies. I haven't done a pregnancy post in a while, my bad.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 27 Weeks
Maternity Clothes: Shorts, shorts, shorts... love maternity shorts!
Best Moment this week: Hearing Owen's heartbeat, my favorite sound ever. A strong 161.
Movement: He moves ALL THE TIME. We watch him move almost every night... I love it.
Food Craving: Ice cold milk, mostly at night. And pasta.
What I miss: Subway and hot dogs.
Sleep: Pretty good, except for right when I am trying to fall asleep, I have to get up to pee at least 5 times a night.
What I am looking forward to: My 3D/4D ultrasound in 2 weeks!
Belly Button: In, but I normally have a very deep belly button, so I doubt it will ever pop out.
Stretch Marks: Yes, unfortunately. On my side. My sister said she had them in the same place.
Symptoms: 2nd trimester has been amazing... I have noticed my feet swell at night when I have been walking a lot that day.

And in honor of the baby boy in my belly... this color is now on my fingers and toes.

Owen's Quilt and Weekend Plans

A few weeks ago, I blogged about the material for Owen's quilt. Well, while we were in Colorado, my Granny finished it! It is adorable...

I have a few other things in mind for my Granny to make Owen before he makes his arrival in October. My Granny is so talented, I keep telling my mom we need to get her things on Etsy to sell!

Tomorrow morning, we have an appointment to check on Owen! I have to do the Glucose screening test to make sure I don't have gestational diabetes. I've heard the stuff you have to drink isn't too bad, so we shall see! Saturday evening, my parents and I are going to see the musical 'Wicked'. Jer opted out of this shindig, he is not one for theater! I have heard such great things from everyone who has seen it, I can't wait!

Jeremy and I are also registering for Owen this weekend! I am so excited. I have been researching the 'best' baby products online all week, so I have a few of my favorites all picked out. Does anyone have any suggestions about things I HAVE TO HAVE on my registry? Would love to know your input! Hopefully baby registering goes a little smoother than our wedding registry... Jeremy and I have completely opposite tastes. He has very masculine taste, while I have feminine. Good thing we have to narrow it down to masculine this go-around, or it would be a very long day.

Watched this movie last night... very good!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and stays dry! We are supposed to go to one of Jeremy's coworker's birthday party's tonight... but we will see what the weather decides!

Oh yeah- and I entered a contest on thebump.com.. if you could please go vote for Owen's nursery, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Estes Park, Colorado

Jeremy and I spent a week with my parents, my brother, his girlfriend, my sister, her husband and their son (our nephew) in Estes Park, Colorado. We had an amazing and relaxing time. We got into Denver on Saturday and drove about an hour and a half to a house we rented in Estes Park. The house was located on The Thompson River and the views were gorgeous. I won't go through the vacation day-by-day because that would take forever, but I will sum up what we did. My doctor told me not to do anything strenuous while I was there because of the altitude, so I didn't have much of an agenda (which was OK by me!). I did notice that the altitude made it harder for me to breath and catch my breath. Also, I felt swollen and HUGE the entire time I was there. I know I wasn't imagining anything because the day after we got back, I slipped my flip-flops on, and they were stretched out from how swollen my feet were.

Here is where we stayed:

A view from our back porch

We walked around and shopped in downtown Estes a few days and I LOVED eating outside on the patios. In the Houston Summer heat, it is a rare treat.

We drove up to The Rocky Mountain National Park to go fishing one day. We didn't catch any fish, but the scenery was all worth it. It actually started hailing on us while we were there. Crazy.

One of my favorite things about Estes Park was how dog friendly it was. Everyone had their puppies with them... outside on patios, in stores, you name it. Sprague Lake wasn't so dog friendly... and this picture looks too much like a bloodhound. Not cool.

Jer and I went to and toured The Stanley Hotel one afternoon. It is the hotel that the movie and book 'The Shining' is based on. Jer is interested in history and I love anything haunted, so this was a win-win for both of us. The cherry on top of the cake was the fact that a part of our favorite movie ever, 'Dumb and Dumber' was filmed here.

My favorite part of the vacation was getting to spend so much time with my family eating, hanging out, playing Scategories and enjoying each other. I also got to spend a week with my Broccoli Booger. He is so snuggly in the mornings, I loved hanging out and playing with him.
